Fun and frolic for all is reflected in the river floaters. A series of hands, expressing thoughts & relationships, was initiated with "Circle of Life". "Choices" for women today, are different than past generations. Here, she can change as one would change a hat.
Several pieces are in a marble epoxy resin, which is poured into the limited edition molds for bronze. The marble aggrigate drops to the face of the piece, giving it a rich,durable surface, and an alternative to the more expensive bronze. An installation photo shows four pieces installed in a travertine bathroom wall.
Over the years, I have made hundreds of works in clay. Only 4 were selected and made in bronze so I could go our and present to the public. All others have been created in the last four or five years. Varied patinas highlight even simple forms. The cream ones are a special mix of chemicals, giving a marble look. It is exquisit on the female, "Solitude". Each work shares a feeling or has a story to tell.
The impetus for these reliefs are personal experiences, my imagination, or stories that need to be told. I can express an emotion, a time, a happening in a baas or high relief. Perhaps they prompt a memory you would like preserved in bronze.
These portraits, in relief and 3D, were created over the years. Some are terracotta (fired clay), others bronze. Please contact me if you are interested in one of yourself .
Desiring to see what would happen with different wax applications in the same simple mold, Laurie created these three bronzes. The challenge to prove I could complete the foundry work myself, and see the variance only the artist can create, with the wax, chasing, and patina.
I love to preserve one's memory &/or photos of loved ones in bronze, or help them celebrate a special event. Additional casts of a commission piece can be ordered at a greatly reduced costs.
These works are made in hydrocal, marble resin, plaster, pour stone. Others are terracotta, or fired clay, and are therefore, one of a kind.
